Bowen Technique

Massage

Bowen is a system of moves that challenges structures to release congestion or blocks and stimulate the body’s natural flow and form, relieving pain, inflammation, whilst being a tonic to the body’s innate ability to heal itself.

I recently completed my training in Bowen Therapy.  I experienced Bowen many years ago when I had a burstitis in my left hip.  I felt like that old Remington advert - I liked it so much, I bought the company - well I found Bowen so transformative and pain relieving that I decided to become a practitioner because I felt this is such an amazing treatment.  Here's a little more info about it:

Bowen Therapy was developed in Australia by the late Tom Bowen (1916- 1982).

It has effects on nerve, muscle and connective tissue including fascia, collagen and the skeletal system. It provides lasting relief from pain and misalignment in the simplest and most effective manner and because it is gentle the positive changes are longer lasting than other therapies. Most clients say it is the most effective, long lasting and relaxing treatment they have ever experienced.

Bowen Therapy is safe for everyone, from newborns to the aged and is safe to use for both acute and chronic conditions. Bowen Therapy relieves the body’s reactive patterns to injury, pain and misalignment through a series of relaxing and gentle moves on specific points on the body.

The treatment is relaxing and light, usually performed through clothing, making it a simple to receive therapy for those in severe pain or in a state of immobility. Further, it is easy for the practitioner to provide to clients large and small. An important aspect of Bowen Therapy are ‘pauses’ of time that are given between sets of therapeutic moves during a treatment session. It is this ‘pause’ of time that enables the body the time to fully respond.
